• 1. What services can I get from GApps?

     1. Google Apps Education Edition (GApps) is a suite of communication & collaboration applications designed for use by education institutions but hosted at Google. It includes the following services and features:

        • Provide web-based Email with Google Search and spam protection through Google Mail (orGmail)

          • • Unlimited Email inbox storage supporting

            • Email address will bear the umthkaa.com domain name, i.e. "<Your-Account>@umthkaa.com"

        • Supports POP3 for popular Email clients

        • Share calendars on-line through Google Calendar

        • Create and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations through Google Docs

        • Exchange instant messaging and make voice calls through Google Talk

        • Provide team website support through Google Sites

        • No advertisements will come with the services for alumni

        • Commit to comply with policies and practice for service safety and privacy

        • Smartphone/PDA support ready

  2. Who is entitled to use the GApps?

• • 1. All alumni members are eligible to enjoy the service. Accounts for accessing this service will be provided upon successful application. However, when you leave the Alumni, the GApps account will be expired and removed.

• 3. How can I apply for a GApps account?

• • 1. You may apply for a GApps account from the Email Services homepage https://sites.google.com/a/umthkaa.com/www/self-service-desk.

• 4. What is the username notation of the GApps account?

• • 1. The username or account name will be in the format "<Account>@umthkaa.com" where <Account> is the Electronic ID of the user. Since the service is hosted by Google.

• 5. Will the UMTHKAA use the GApps account to communicate with us?

• • 1. All formal UMTHKAA information will be dispatched via the UMTHKAA Email service.

• 6. How can I start using the GApps account?

• • 1. Account will normally be ready either 48 hours after successful applications. You may go to the following site for the account activation and subsequent logons.https://www.google.com/a/umthkaa.com/ServiceLogin

• 7. How do I set up my Outlook to access GApps and manage my account?

• • 1. Outlook can access your GApps account through POP3/IMAP.

• 8. Does GApps offer support for POP3/IMAP?

• • 1. Yes, you can retrieve your Gmail messages of your GApps account with a client or device that supports POP/IMAP, like Microsoft Outlook. You may refer to the following site for details:http://mail.google.com/support/
